  • USDA Asks Farmers to Show Their Stewardship, Nationwide Survey to Focus on Irrigation
    Water is the source of life and the U.S. agricultural industry depends upon this precious resource to meet the world's growing need for food, feed, fiber and fuel. U.S. agricultural producers will soon have the opportunity to speak out about their water use when the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) conducts the Farm and Ranch Irrigation Survey.
  • NASS Gives Thanks to Those Farmers Counted in the 2007 Census of Agriculture This Holiday Season
    This Thanksgiving the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has more than 2 million reasons to be thankful. Having received a record number of responses to the 2007 Census of Agriculture, NASS is giving thanks to all of those farmers and ranchers who fulfilled their responsibility by completing and returning their census forms.
  • USDA Corrects October Crop Acreage Estimates
    The U.S. Department of Agriculture today adjusted its official October acreage and production estimates for six field crops. USDA revised the numbers after discovering discrepancies in a Farm Service Agency (FSA) database of producer-reported crop acreage used by the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). NASS published the changes this morning in a corrected version of the Oct. 10 Crop Production.

We are led by five dedicated local volunteer residents who are elected to a three-year term as Board Supervisors. Staffed with federal and state/county professionals, we assist Delaware County residents, landowners, and communities with their natural resources conservation needs.

Education Workshops - Fall 2008 PDF Print E-mail

Download Current Workshop Flyer & Registration Form

Conservation workshops are scheduled for educators. Participants will experience activities appropriate for various age levels that can be used to help meet current science standards. Additional background information will be provided as well as sharing resources available to teachers. Formal classroom teachers and nonformal educators are welcome. Unless otherwise noted, the workshops will be held at Highbanks Metro Park, 3 miles north of I270 on Route 23, just below Powell Road.

No-plat Subdivision Application Reviews PDF Print E-mail

On December 28th, 2006, the County Commissioners approved updated Subdivision Regulations as recommended by the Delaware County Regional Planning Commission (RPC).  The Delaware SWCD would like to bring to your attention the following change: NPA applications, or No Plat Lot Splits (under 5 acres) will now add the Soil and Water Conservation District to the list of endorsements the RPC is looking for on the Development Plan.  Below are links to the RPC Subdivision Regulations, Change Chart and the Delaware SWCD No Plat Subdivision Application Form.
