The purpose of the storm drain labeling program is to educate residents on the final destination of materials entering neighborhood storm drains. Often times, this "final" destination is either a local river or stream. Anything dumped into the storm drain, such as chemicals, paints, etc., will eventually enter the natural body of water and become a source of pollution. |

A stream quality monitoring program samples water quality at various points along streams over a period of time. The purpose is to attempt to determine the current status of water quality in the area and any trends in improvement or degradation of water quality over time. The quality of the water in a stream is determined by examining both biological and chemical factors. |

Maintaining the physical integrity of our streams is critical to the continued ecological health of the stream. During stream clean-ups, teams of volunteers spread out over the entire stream area in an effort to remove trash items from the stream corridor. |

All you need to become an Earth Team volunteer is the willingness to help others understand how they can be good stewards of our soil, water, air, and living organisms and live in harmony with the land. These workshops train volunteers to help spread an environmental and natural resources conservation education message to local school classes, youth and adult groups. Earth Team members assist the District by making educational presentations in the county.
