  • USDA Forecasts Robust Corn and Soybean Crops, Despite Flooding
    Despite June's severe flooding in the Midwest, U.S. farmers are on pace to produce the second largest corn crop and fourth largest soybean crop in history, according to the Crop Production report released today by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
  • Farm Production Expenditures Hit Record High in 2007, USDA Reports
    The rising cost of fuel and other products helped drive U.S. farm production expenditures to a record $260 billion in 2007, according to the Farm Production Expenditures 2007 summary released today by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Total U.S. farm production expenditures rose 9.3 percent from 2006 and nearly 30 percent from 5 years ago.
  • USDA Report Assesses 2008 Corn and Soybean Acreage
    Despite the recent flooding in the Midwest, U.S. farmers expect to harvest nearly 79 million acres of corn and more than 72 million acres of soybeans in 2008, according to the Acreage report released today by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).

The Delaware SWCD, founded in 1944 is one of 88 conservation districts in Ohio and one of nearly 3000 nationwide. We are led by five dedicated local volunteer residents who are elected to a three-year term as Board Supervisors. Staffed with federal and state/county professionals, we assist Delaware County residents, landowners, and communities with their natural resources conservation needs.

Time: 8:30 a.m. to Noon

What: Delaware County residents who want to keep the Scioto River Clean!  All volunteers welcome, youth under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult, under 18 must have an adult present if canoeing.

Delaware County Flood Insurance Rate Maps are being updated. PDF Print E-mail

The Delaware County Flood Risk Information Meeting was held May 6, 2008 at the Hayes Building.  To view scans of all the handouts at that meeting click here.  Below is a summary of the information presented at that meeting.

FEMA is in the midst of a "Map Modernization" process nationwide.  They are updating all of the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) based on best, currently available data.  In Delaware this means they used the 2006 2' contour data that the County Auditor's office had created.  Preliminary data is now available.

The Public is Invited to Attend Our Board Meetings PDF Print E-mail
Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at the Delaware SWCD office. Meetings begin at 7:00 P.M. November through March, and at 8:00 P.M. April through October. Please call to verify dates and times as this schedule is general and subject to change.  You can check the calendar and/or contact us.
